Direct Deposits to Member & Group Accounts

We’ve enhanced the CAMS USSD payment channel to now support direct deposits to any savings account—whether individual or group-linked—using the “Pay to Account” option.

Key Enhancements:

  • Deposits by Non-Members:
    Anyone (including non-members) can now deposit directly into a SACCO member’s or group’s savings account via the new USSD option ‘Pay to Account’.
  • Depositor Details Recorded:
    Each deposit logs depositor information, which is displayed in the savings account statement.
  • Manual Reconciliation Required:
    For accuracy, the depositor’s info must be manually reviewed and reconciled by SACCO staff incase the depositor entered wrong account details.

Steps

PAYING TO A DIFFERENT ACCOUNT
 
Step 1 : Dial * 185 * 7 * 3 * 3 #
Step 2 : Choose 1. to pay to any other account
Step 3 : Enter Account Number
Step 4 : Enter your name as Reference number
Step 5 : Confirm Account Name to deposit to and Enter Amount
Step 6 : Enter PIN

DEPOSITING TO OWN ACCOUNT
 
Step 1 : Dial * 185 * 7 * 3 * 3 #
Step 2 : Choose 2. to Select your SACCO/MFI
Step 3 : Choose Sacco, then Saving then Contribute.
Step 4 : Choose Saving Product
Step 5 : Enter Amount and confirm
Step 6 : Enter PIN

  • 🤝 Enables easier contribution from family, friends, or third parties.
  • 🏦 Supports more flexible deposit options for group or chama accounts.
  • 🔐 Maintains accountability and visibility through recorded depositor details.
