Summary
Add a savings account and a share account to a member, so they can deposit, save and hold shares in your SACCO.
You work on the member profile, on the Accounts tab, and pick a product you set up earlier.
About 5 minutes · 6 steps.
Prerequisites
An admin login with access to Client.
The member already registered, so you can open their profile.
The savings and share products set up under Settings > Products, since each product carries the interest rate and the general ledger links.
In the left menu, open Client and find the member. Click the member to open their profile.
On the member profile, click the Accounts tab. The tab bar runs across the top: Summary, Users, Accounts, Charges, Residence, KYC, Income, Assets, Bank, Statement, History and Transaction. The Accounts tab lists the accounts this member already holds.
To add a savings account, start a new account on the Accounts tab and select a savings product. The product sets the interest rate and the general ledger links, so the account behaves the right way. Open the account for this member.
To add a share account, do the same on the Accounts tab, but select a share product instead. Open the account. The new accounts now show in the list and can transact.
Check the Accounts tab to confirm both accounts appear with the right product names.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
The product list is empty. You must set up products first. Go to Settings > Products and add a savings product and a share product, then come back to the member.
Savings and shares are not the same. A savings account holds member deposits and earns interest. A share account holds member ownership and pays dividends. Pick the matching product for each.
Can one member have more than one savings account? Yes, if the product allows multiple accounts. You add each account the same way on the Accounts tab.
Why does the interest rate look wrong? The rate comes from the product, not the member. To change it, edit the product under Settings > Products, or pick a different product.
I added the account but cannot deposit. Make sure the account is opened for the member. Once it shows on the Accounts tab, it can take deposits and withdrawals.
