Summary
Reconciling the teller means counting your physical cash and matching it to the system balance, so you can close your till at the end of the day with confidence.
You review the day's transactions, compare the cash to the balance, sort out any difference, then close.
About 8 minutes · 6 steps. Also called: balance the till, cash up, end of day, close till, teller cash count, till reconciliation.
Prerequisites
An admin login mapped to your teller account, with teller transaction access.
Your counted physical cash for the day, ready to compare.
In the left menu, open Transactions → Teller. The page shows your teller account, the branch status (Open or Closed), and the current Balance — the cash the system expects in your till.
Open the History tab and review every transaction you posted today. Match each deposit, withdrawal, and fee to your receipts and vouchers.
Count your physical cash and compare the total to the Balance in the header.
If the cash and the balance agree, close your till as part of your SACCO's end-of-day routine — the branch status moves from Open to Closed. If they don't agree, you have a discrepancy: go back to History, find the cause (a missing posting, a duplicate, or a wrong amount), have an authorised user post the correction, re-check the balance, then close.
To confirm a reconciliation was recorded, open Transactions → Teller Reconcile (the Reconcile File) and search a date range. It lists each teller's Debit, Credit, and closing Balance for the period.
Note: Closing is an end-of-day step governed by your SACCO's process. Don't close until your cash matches the balance.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
What does "discrepancy" mean? Your physical cash doesn't match the system balance. Don't close until you've found the cause and fixed it.
Where do I find the day's transactions? The History tab on the Teller page lists everything you posted, so you can match each line to a receipt.
The balance shows DR — is that wrong? No. DR is the normal way a till holding cash is shown. Compare the amount, not the DR label.
Can I fix a wrong entry myself? Follow your SACCO's controls — corrections usually need an authorised user, so report the problem rather than guessing.
Where do I confirm a reconciliation went through? Under Transactions → Teller Reconcile, search the date to see the recorded figures.
The till is still Open the next morning. Tell your supervisor — a till left open means the previous day wasn't closed, and the balance may carry over.
