How to configure holidays and working days
Set your Sacco’s working days and public holidays in CAMS.
1 / 3
Summary
Set your SACCO's working days and holidays so loan due dates and arrears are calculated against real business days.
When you mark a date as a holiday, it is not counted as a day in arrears, and repayment due dates shift off non-working days.
About 8 minutes · 6 steps.
Prerequisites
An admin login for CAMS Admin with rights to open Settings.
The list of your SACCO's public holidays for the year, with dates and names.
Your normal working days, for example Monday to Friday.
In the left menu, open Settings > Policies, then click the Holidays tab.
Under Working Days, tick the day-of-week boxes for the days your SACCO operates. A common setup is Monday to Friday ticked, Saturday and Sunday left unticked.
Click Save. You should see the message Working Days has been submitted successfully.
To add a holiday, click Add Holidays, then enter the Name and pick the Date. Turn on Recurring if the holiday falls on the same date every year. You can add more than one holiday before saving.
Save to apply. Your holidays now feed into arrears and schedule calculations. Use the search bar to find an entry, and use the pencil or trash icons in the table to edit or delete a holiday.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
Will a holiday remove days from arrears? Yes. Holidays and non-working days are left out of arrears counting, so a loan does not age into delinquency only because of a weekend or public holiday.
What happens to a due date that lands on a holiday? The system adjusts it for business days, so the due date moves off the non-working day. The exact direction is handled automatically.
Do I need to add holidays every year? Only if they are not recurring. Turn on Recurring for fixed-date holidays so you do not have to re-enter them next year.
Why are both Name and Date required? A clear name helps staff recognise the entry later, and the date tells the system which day to skip. Both fields must be filled before you can save.
I changed working days but loans look the same. Confirm you clicked Save and saw the success message. New settings apply to schedules and arrears going forward, not to past records that were already calculated.
