Summary
Add a new individual member (client) to your SACCO in CAMS, from sign-in to a saved record. About 4 minutes · 8 steps.
Prerequisites
Your CAMS sign-in.
Permission to create clients. If you can't see the Add Client button, ask an administrator.
The member's details to hand: full name, phone number, email address, and their joining date. A reference number and an ID document help but aren't required.
Step-by-step
Sign in to CAMS. You'll land on the admin dashboard.
In the left menu, click Client. You'll see the Clients screen, which lists your existing members.
At the top right, click Add Client. The Create New Client form opens.
Fill in the first section, Membership Details. The fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required:
Policy: choose the membership policy for this member.
Date Of Joining: pick the date they are joining.
Branch Name: choose their branch, for example Main Branch.
Reference Number: optional, your own reference for the member.
Then click Next.
Fill in Personal Details (the member's name and personal information), then click Next.
Fill in Contact Details: the member's Phone Number and Email Address. CAMS uses these to identify the member, so add at least one. Then click Next.
The last three sections, Identity Number, Residence, and Employment, are optional. Fill in any that apply. For example, a national ID under Identity Number helps with the member's KYC check.
Click Create at the bottom right. You'll return to the Clients list with the new member in it.
Note: A new member starts with the status Pending (and KYC Pending) until they are reviewed and activated. That's normal, and does not mean anything went wrong.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
I can't see the Add Client button. Your role may not allow creating members. Ask an administrator to check your permissions.
The Next button is greyed out. A required field (marked with *) is still empty. In Membership Details, make sure Policy, Date Of Joining, and Branch Name are all filled.
A dropdown looks empty. Start typing in its Search… box to load the options, such as the policy or the branch.
I can't find the member afterwards. Use the Search box at the top of the Clients screen, or check the Status filter, since a new member is Pending.
Do I have to complete every section? No. Only the starred fields are required to create the member. You can add identity, residence, and employment details now or later.
