a reducing-balance loan interest and statement accuracy overhaul

Planned for: 10 November 2026

Plans can change between now and release day. Anything below can move to a later build.

Summary

Almost all of this build is about a loan and member statement's numbers matching what is actually owed. Interest accrual frequency becomes configurable to daily or monthly, loan balances are brought in sync across the member app, USSD and admin, and member and loan statements are redesigned for clarity.

Coming soon

  • Interest accrual frequency becomes configurable to daily or monthly, instead of always accruing at month end.
  • Accrued interest is corrected to match the amount actually collected, where the two currently disagree.
  • Loan balances shown on the member app, USSD and admin are brought into sync, including the daily accrued interest figure.
  • The Member App and USSD will show the due amount for a reducing-balance loan instead of including future interest in the total, while a flat-rate loan continues to show its full total.
  • The member statement is redesigned for easier readability, with a running balance across principal, interest, payments and closing balance.
  • An installment schedule left misbalanced after reversing an old loan transaction is corrected.
  • The loan statement will show a waived-off row, on screen and in the download, where it is currently missing.
