SACCO admins configure their own payment providers

Released: 8 October 2026

Summary

SACCO admins can now configure their own payment providers instead of waiting on Wakandi staff for every change, each account with its own USSD short code or WhatsApp number can run an independent menu, and tellers get a tool to correct a loan repayment that was split or allocated incorrectly, alongside a run of smaller fixes.

What's new

  • SACCO admins with the right access can now add, edit and enable their own payment provider configurations from Settings, for providers Wakandi has opened up for self-service, instead of waiting on Wakandi staff for every change.
  • Each account with its own USSD short code or WhatsApp number can now run an independent, branded menu, while every account without one keeps using the shared Wakandi USSD service unchanged.
  • Tellers can now correct a posted loan repayment that was split or allocated incorrectly across a member's loans, principal, interest, charges and penalties, instead of needing a manual correction.
  • An order that fails during processing will no longer be left marked as completed, so it can no longer be invoiced under postpaid billing as if it had gone through.
  • A new report reconciling CAMS against Wakandi Accounting is added, starting with a year-wise portfolio balance by product.
  • The member app no longer shows a "Guarantors are not required" message on a Quick Loan product whose credit policy actually requires guarantors.
  • The Quick Loan eligibility a member is shown now reflects their actual policy-computed eligible amount.
  • Loan application documents uploaded in the redesigned admin view are visible and downloadable again from the Documents tab.
  • A loan whose reschedule or top-up application was approved, but whose new loan was then rejected, no longer disappears from outstanding-loan reports and dashboards.
  • A member import that leaves some rows without a phone number or email no longer fails the whole file with an internal error.
  • Users with the General Manager, Teller or Credit Officer role can now download a Disbursed Loan Schedule, matching their existing report access.
  • A Quick Loan no longer falls back to the wrong assignee when no admin user matches the credit policy's default branch role; it now auto-approves with no assignee, as expected.
  • The Principal Due figure in repayment reports now shows the amount due for that period instead of the loan's full outstanding balance, correcting repayment rate calculations.
  • An installment now moves to Due status on its due date even when its loan product has no overdue charges configured, instead of staying stuck.
  • Staff accounts can no longer be added to a SACCO as an admin or a member, closing off a way internal Wakandi accounts could end up as SACCO users.
  • A downloaded report now consistently shows either "Current Year" or "As of Current Date", across PDF, CSV and Excel.
  • Setting up a new microfinance institution through the quick-create flow no longer leaves the Continue button disabled when the customer type step is skipped.
  • A trial balance gap traced to an earlier data migration issue is corrected with adjusting journal entries, affecting 2025 figures at one institution.
  • Downloading a loan statement no longer shows an error for some loan products.

What this means for you

Nothing here needs preparation. SACCOs wanting self-service access to a payment provider should reach out to confirm it has been opened up for self-service configuration.
