Prerequisites
- The phone with your registered number.
- A USSD PIN. See Set or reset your USSD PIN.
Step-by-step
Dial your network's code (Kenya
*384*25611#, Uganda, MTN*165*4*4#, Uganda, Airtel*185*7*3*3#). The number you dial from is your sign-in.Reply with your SACCO's number (for example 5) and send. Your SACCO menu opens.
Reply 1 for a savings balance, 2 for shares, or 3 for a loan.

Figure 1: Your SACCO's USSD menu on the phone (1 Saving, 2 Shares, 3 Loan, 4 Create / Reset PIN) Pick the account, then the balance option. If you have more than one account of the same type, check them one at a time.
Enter your PIN if asked. The balance shows on screen.
What each balance shows:
- Saving: available balance, any blocked amount, the currency and the account number.
- Shares: total share value, any blocked amount, the currency and the account number.
- Loan: outstanding principal, interest and charges, plus the total amount due.
Note: Wording varies a little between SACCOs, but the path is always the same: SACCO menu → Saving / Shares / Loan → account → balance.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
- What is the blocked amount? A temporary hold on part of your money. The available balance is what you can use; your SACCO can tell you why the rest is held.
- On a loan, which number do I pay? The total amount due — it already includes principal, interest and charges.
- The balance looks wrong. Balances are live, in your SACCO's currency. Keep the confirmation message from your last deposit or repayment and contact your SACCO with it.
