How to contribute to your savings
Summary
Pay money into one of your savings accounts from the member app. About 3 minutes · 7 steps. Also called: deposit, save, pay in, top up savings.
Prerequisites
- You can sign in — see How to sign in to the member app.
- An active savings account with your SACCO.
- The mobile-money line you'll pay from, with enough balance for the amount and any fee.
Step-by-step
- Open the member app and sign in. You'll see Your Groups.
- Tap your group. Your dashboard opens.
- Under Savings, tap Contribute. The Make your contribution form opens.

Figure 1: The Make your contribution form in the member app, where you pick a savings account, type the amount, add an optional message and tap Contribute - Under Choose savings account, pick the account you want to pay into.
- In Enter amount, type how much you want to save. Your SACCO sets a smallest and a largest amount for each savings account.
- (Optional) Add a Message so you remember what the contribution was for.
- Tap Contribute and follow the prompt on your phone to pay. Once the payment goes through, the amount is added to your savings.
Note: Your SACCO may add a convenience fee, so the amount taken from your mobile money can be more than the amount you typed. Check the total before you confirm.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
- The Contribute button is greyed out. Pick a savings account and enter an amount; the button turns on once both are filled.
- There's no account in the list. Your SACCO sets up savings accounts, and only active ones can take a payment. Contact your SACCO.
- My amount was refused. It is outside the smallest and largest amounts set for that account. Try one inside the range, or ask your SACCO to raise the limit.
- I paid but my savings didn't change. The app can take a few minutes to catch up — refresh My Contributions. Keep the payment confirmation, and contact your SACCO with the date and amount if it still doesn't show.
