Security checks when you sign in to CAMS
Summary
Understand the checks that run every time you sign in to CAMS, and what to do when one of them stops you. About 3 minutes · 6 steps. Also called: login, password, one time code, OTP, two factor, 2FA, location, login history.
Prerequisites
- Your usual CAMS sign-in details.
- A mobile number on your account that can receive a one time code.
- A device with location turned on, inside the country your CAMS account belongs to.
Step-by-step
Open CAMS and sign in with your usual details. The same checks apply on the web and in the mobile apps.

Figure 1: The CAMS sign-in screen, where the security checks begin Your device sends its location with the sign-in. Without a readable location, the sign-in is refused.
The location is checked against the country your account belongs to. A sign-in from outside it is refused; anywhere inside counts the same.
The sign-in also carries a device fingerprint (a code that identifies your device) and your IP address. If either one is missing, the sign-in is refused.
Enter the one time code sent to your mobile number. Every sign-in asks for a code, including your first one.
Your session then stays tied to that device. Changing network or moving around keeps you signed in; on a different device you sign in again.
Note: Every attempt is written to a login history — date and time, outcome, user, device, location, and the reason when a sign-in is refused. Roles that are allowed to can read it in CAMS Admin. A hidden check also confirms a person is signing in rather than a script; there is nothing for you to solve.
Common pitfalls & FAQ
- I am travelling and cannot sign in. Sign-in works from inside your country only. There is no exception for travel, and the one time code does not open the country check.
- The code never arrives. It goes to the mobile number saved on your account. Each mobile number, like each email address, belongs to exactly one account, and the two stay paired. A wrong number has to be corrected before you can sign in.
- I am refused and do not know why. Check that location is switched on for your browser or app. A sign-in with no readable location is refused.
- Several attempts in a row are refused. Attempts are limited over a short window. Wait a little and try again.
