See and repay your loans

Summary

Check what you still owe on each loan, and repay a loan from the member app. About 3 minutes · 6 steps. Also called: my loans, loan balance, repay loan, pay loan.

Prerequisites

  • You can sign in — see How to sign in to the member app.
  • A way to pay, usually your mobile money, if you want to repay today.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the member app and sign in. You'll see Your Groups.
  2. Tap your group. Your dashboard opens.
  3. Under My Loans, tap See Details. Your loans open, one card for each loan.
The My Loans screen: each loan card shows the loan amount, the total outstanding, the start and due dates and the loan status, with a Pay Now button for repaying
Figure 1: The My Loans screen: each loan card shows the loan amount, the total outstanding, the start and due dates and the loan status, with a Pay Now button for repaying
  4. Use the tabs — All, Pending and Rejected — to find the loan. An application still waiting for a decision sits under Pending.
  5. Read the card: loan amount, total outstanding, start and due dates, and status, for example disbursed or over due.
  6. Tap Pay Now on that loan and follow the prompt to finish paying.

Note: The outstanding amount shows as DR — everything you still owe: the loan amount, the interest and any charges together.

Common pitfalls & FAQ

  • What do the statuses mean? Disbursed means the money was paid out and repayments are due. Over due means the due date has passed and the loan isn't fully paid. Pay as soon as you can, and talk to your SACCO if you can't.
  • The loan amount dropped by less than I paid. Each payment is split across the loan amount, the interest and the charges, so the loan amount alone falls by less than you paid.
  • I paid and nothing changed. Give it a few minutes and open My Loans again. If it's still wrong, contact your SACCO with the date and amount.
  • Nothing shows under My Loans. You may have no loan yet, or your membership may not be active for loan services. Your SACCO can check for you.
