How to withdraw from your savings

Try it on your phone — a real, hand-built simulation of the Member App below. Nothing you do here touches a real account. It opens where you would be after signing in. Watch this flow for the whole path to the screen this article is about, or tap through it yourself.

Summary

Ask to take money out of your savings and have it sent to your mobile money or bank. About 4 minutes · 8 steps. Also called: cash out, savings withdrawal, take money out.

Prerequisites

  • You can sign in — see How to sign in to the member app.
  • Enough available savings to cover the amount.
  • The mobile-money or bank details where the money should go.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the member app and sign in — see How to sign in to the member app.
  2. Under My Savings and Credits, tap your SACCO to open it.
  3. Under Savings, tap Withdraw. The withdrawal form opens.
  4. Under Saving Account, choose the account to take money from.
  5. In Enter amount, type how much you want to withdraw.
  6. Under Account Type, choose where the money should go, for example mobile money.
  7. Under Payment Provider, pick your provider, for example MTN or Airtel. Add a Description if you want a note to recognise the payment later.
  8. Tap Withdraw. You'll see a confirmation, and the money goes to the destination you chose.

Note: Depending on your SACCO, a withdrawal can need staff approval before it pays out. Until then the request stays pending and no money has moved.

Common pitfalls & FAQ

  • The Withdraw button is greyed out. Fill every field marked with * — account, amount, account type and payment provider — and it turns on. If the form or the account list looks empty, it may still be loading; give it a moment.
  • It won't let me withdraw that amount. You can only take out your available balance, which can be lower than your total. View your savings explains reserved money.
  • My provider isn't in the list. Only the providers your SACCO supports appear. If yours is missing, contact your SACCO.
  • The money hasn't arrived. The request may be waiting for approval, or your provider is still processing it. If it stays missing, contact your SACCO with the date and amount.
